Depending on area, apartment rents head in opposite directions

HOUSTON CHRONICLE (January 6, 2017) – Apartment rents dropped in many of Houston’s priciest markets last year, while moving in the opposite direction in some blue-collar neighborhoods.

Average rents across the Houston area fell by 1.3 percent to $1,014 in 2016, according to RealPage, a rental housing technology and analytics firm based in Richardson. Rents fell in two-thirds of the 35 local submarkets tracked.
