Markets leading the national rankings for apartment occupancy in September are all Midwest and Northeast markets. Youngstown is the only apartment market still logging occupancy above the 99% mark, according to data from RealPage Market Analytics. The top spot on the occupancy leaderboard is not new for this market, which benefits from its proximity to the more expensive Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Youngstown was also one of only a handful of apartment markets to see occupancy continue to climb in September, when a big portion of the country lost momentum. Logging September occupancy just shy of the 99% mark were Springfield, Madison and Buffalo. New York is the only major apartment market to reign among these national leaders, with a rate of 98% in September. Three other small New England markets also made the list with occupancy of 98% registering across Portland, Providence and Manchester.
