Renters with Pets Tend to Live Near the Mountains

People who love pets also love the mountains, according to RealPage’s Renter Cohort Analysis. Pets are most commonly a part of apartment renter households in Sierra Vista, Arizona, located at the base of the Huachuca Mountains. In fact, Sierra Vista means “mountain view” in Spanish. Renters in this market own roughly 0.9 pets per household, well ahead of the national average of 0.27 pets per lease. Other markets where residents live with an average of 0.5 or more pets per household – well above national norms – include the Denver Front Range (Denver, Fort Collins), Asheville, NC, and Eugene, OR. On the other hand, renters in some Gulf Coast markets do not tend to keep pets in their apartments.
