The impacts of the Omicron variant and weak convention activity have taken a toll on Las Vegas’ tourism industry. The number of people visiting Las Vegas continued to fall after reaching a pandemic-era high in October. Visitors to the Entertainment Capital of the World fell 27% from October to January, with a 17.6% drop specifically in the first month of the year. In January, nearly 2.5 million people visited Las Vegas, the least number of visitors since March 2021. Compared to the pre-pandemic level in January 2019, the number of visitors to Las Vegas during January 2022 was down 27%, but was nearly double the number of visitors hosted in January 2021.
