Dallas led the nation for job growth in 2019, with employment additions hitting a two-decade peak by the end of the year. As of December, annual job growth in Dallas reached 108,400 jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This was the strongest showing the market has seen in at least two decades. Houston was the nation’s #2 job growth leader, adding roughly 20,000 fewer jobs than Dallas in 2019. Recent job additions increased the employment base in Dallas by 4.1%. Dallas boasts an attractive mix of high-paying employers in sectors such as Professional and Business Services, Financial Activities and Information, including over a dozen Fortune 500 companies.
