Velocity™ 9000 Meter Tops 5,000 Successful Installations
Provides top-of-the-line water submeter solution as part of Velocity Submetering services
CARROLLTON, Texas (April 30, 2009) — Velocity, an award winning provider of resident utility billing and invoice processing services for the multifamily industry, today announced that its Velocity 9000 water submeter has exceeded 5,000 customers installs, while achieving a zero defect failure rate. The Velocity 9000 is an extremely accurate, multi jet water meter that rounds out the Velocity Submetering Services end-to-end meter installation, maintenance and reading services. Launched in August 2008, the Velocity 9000 ensures that Velocity customers have access to a consistent, reliable and affordable water submeter model across all submetered properties to capture accurate volume usage.
“The Velocity 9000 marks the first time a vendor has developed a water submeter for the multifamily industry that can be used in all 50 states,” said Ashley Glover, executive vice president, RealPage. “Reaching this milestone in customer installations is a testament to the reliability and accuracy of the Velocity 9000, which is the first 100% plastic multi-jet water meter to be used in the United States.”
Submetering systems bill residents for their actual utility consumption each month. Studies show that submetered properties consume less water than properties that bill water as part of the rent charge. In some states, submetering systems are now required in new multifamily property construction.
“The Velocity 9000 water meter meets the accuracy and production standards of the American Water Works Association, providing accurate water usage readings for all flow rates,” said Scott Bolin, director, meters and networks with Velocity. “Additionally, the meter conforms to all U.S. safe drinking water standards and is designed to meet specifications for National Safety Foundation Proposition 61, which is being adopted across the United States. The accuracy of the Velocity Submetering Services also helps identify water supply line problems by comparing billed consumption with meter readings from each part of the multifamily property.”
